What is a wedding show?

A wedding show is an event where engaged couples can meet with wedding vendors and get ideas for their big day. It’s the perfect opportunity to sample wedding cakes, look at gowns, and pick out flowers. You can also find deals on everything from invitations to photography packages. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the planning process, there are usually plenty of resources available at a wedding show to help you get started. So if you’re getting married soon, be sure to check out our wedding expos.  They’re the perfect place to start planning your dream wedding!

I already found lots of things online, so why should I attend?

A wedding show provides you with something that the wedding websites don’t, which is the opportunity to taste, touch, and see things up close and in person.

You’ll be trusting many wedding pros on your special day, and a show provides an efficient way to meet them in person before you commit. The wedding pros who exhibit at the show are there because they would love to be part of your wedding team. They are local businesses with ties to the community.

Plus, with so much to see and do, the show will be a lot of fun for you and your entire wedding crew.

Can I bring my wedding party, family, and friends?

Bring them all (and that includes your fiance) so they can share this fun day with you.

What should I bring?

To get the most out of your show experiences, it’s a good idea to plan ahead. First, go in with a priority list of things you still need. Research the list of exhibitors beforehand and make note of those you want to check out. This will help you to stay organized and ensure that you don’t miss anyone. You might want to bring color swatches and fabric samples.

There is a lot to see, so wear comfortable shoes! Many exhibitors will be conducting prize drawings, and you’ll save time if you bring some address labels with your name, contact info, and wedding date.

How should I dress?

We want you to be comfortable! Casual to dressy casual is the norm. Comfortable shoes are a good idea.

Will I be able to get some great deals?

Many of the exhibitors at the show will have discounts and special offers that are available only at the show. While there’s no pressure to buy on the spot, you might find a deal that is too good to pass up.

What questions should we be asking the exhibitors?

A show is a very efficient way to check out all of your options in a single day. Be prepared with a list of questions that are important to your decision-making process. You might want to start by checking availability on your wedding date. If they’re booked, you don’t have to waste your time or theirs.

Don’t be afraid to ask, “What makes your company different from your competitors?” When checking prices, make sure you’re comparing apples to apples. A package deal might be perfect for some couples; a la carte (or individual add-ons) might be better for others.

Does it make sense to order tickets in advance?

Most of our attendees order their tickets in advance from our website. While your chances are good that tickets will be available on the day of the show, you’ll save time by arriving with the tickets you’ve printed from your online order, or you can show the QR code for your tickets on your phone.

When should I arrive and how long should I plan on staying?

We offer ticket options that specify an arrival time and ‘all day’ tickets that allow you to arrive at any time.

If you’re just getting started with your wedding planning, you might want to spend the entire day. Plan to arrive early so you’re first in line when the doors open.

If you’re just wrapping up the remaining details, you might need just an hour or two. If that’s you, consider skipping the first hour to avoid the early rush.

Can I bring kids?

Children 12 and younger may attend at no charge.  Due to space contraints, strollers are not permitted.  Strollers can be checked at the show venue.

We're a same-sex couple. Will we be welcomed at the show?

The NM Wedding Expos provide a welcoming environment for everyone.  We only ask each couple to designate a decision maker for registration and contact purposes.

I have a disability. Are there any arrangements I can make to attend the Expo?

Yes! In order to best serve you, requests for accommodations under the Americans With Disabilities Act must be made 14 days prior to the show date.  Visit our Accessibility page for more details.

Will exhibitors contact me after the show?

Exhibitors in our show receive a contact list of the show attendees.  Some may to follow up to provide you information and special offers. so it’s likely that you may receive calls or emails in the days after the show. You may opt out at any time after the initial contact.

If you registered for the show, but for some reason were unable to attend, this followup will allow you to obtain information and special offers that you might have otherwise missed.

What about parking?

Our show locations provide plentiful free parking.

Top 10 Tips for Attending the NM Wedding Expo

  1. Bring your trusted companions, such as your fiancé, parents, or bridesmaids. They can help you cover more ground and provide valuable opinions about wedding vendors. Despite common assumptions, about 30% of partners also attend!)
  2. Dedicate at least 2 hours to your Expo experience. This is your opportunity to gather information and seek answers to your wedding-related questions. After all, how many weddings have you planned before? Come prepared with questions, explore the displays, and engage with the experts. Begin to narrow down your choices and identify vendors you’d like to learn more from. Even if you don’t end up working with a particular vendor, you can still gain inspiration from what you see and learn.
  3. Don’t forget to bring pre-printed address labels. Many vendors hold drawings for trips, prizes, and discounts, and your labels will save you from the repetitive task of writing your name and address multiple times.
  4. Consider bringing your checkbook or credit card. While we’re not suggesting you spend your entire wedding budget at the Expo, keep in mind that popular wedding dates fill up quickly. You may want to secure your preferred date with a deposit or take advantage of show specials. (Note: Always review refund policies and contracts carefully before making any payments.)
  5. Have your calendar handy. You’ll likely come across professionals you’d like to schedule one-on-one consultations with. Save time by setting up appointments on the spot, avoiding the need for additional phone calls later.
  6. Reflect on your goals for the Expo. Have a clear idea of what you’re looking for and the questions you need to ask. This will help you make efficient use of your time and ensure you focus on what truly matters to you.
  7. Prioritize comfort by wearing comfortable shoes. This way, you can concentrate on gathering ideas and obtaining answers to your questions, rather than seeking relief for your feet.
  8. Be proactive in collecting coupons, special offers, and free samples. Even if you’re not currently in need of certain services like invitations or accommodations for out-of-town guests, you might in the future. By picking up flyers now, you’ll have half the work done when the time comes.
  9. Stay for the fashion shows. The most significant prizes are typically awarded after each fashion show. If possible, remain until the end of the last fashion show, starting at 4 p.m., as this is when all the prizes are given out, including those not claimed earlier. Plus, dedicating time to this can save you a lot of effort later, as it’s a unique opportunity to connect with numerous professionals in a short span.
  10. Have a well-structured game plan for your afternoon:
  • Visit the booths: Gather information, sample products, and engage in conversations with the vendors. They’re eager to answer your questions!
  • Discuss with your companions: Find a quiet spot, even away from the main floor, to discuss your favorite exhibitors and your thoughts. Review the materials you’ve collected and decide which vendors you’d like to revisit for more detailed discussions.
  • Return to your top choices: Go back to your favorite booths and schedule one-on-one appointments if needed. If you’re ready to commit, take advantage of exclusive discounts and specials offered only during the Expo to secure your wedding date with them.
